Sur une route de campagne des environs de Berlin, Ramon, un dresseur d'éléphants, vient à la rescousse de la jeune comtesse Lilly von Teltow dont la voiture est en flammes. Lorsqu'il viendra lui rendre visite peu de temps après dans son château, Ramon se rendra compte que le mari de la belle est occupé à séduire l'infirmière de sa femme. When the young Countess Lilly von Teltow is rescued from her burning car by Ramon, a dwarf circus performer who happens by with his troupe in the countryside near Berlin, she invites him to her palace. There, Ramon has the doubtful pleasure of meeting the Count, a wretched man who enjoys chasing his wife's nurse around the house. The Countess feels that Ramon deserves a reward and Ramon feels that she deserves a bit of sympathy. |
| Né en 1962 à Bad Segeberg, Detlev Buck fait son service civil après le baccalauréat, puis entre en apprentissage dans une exploitation agricole. Entre 1985 et 1990, il est à l'Académie allemande de cinéma et de la télévision de Berlin. Il a réalisé plusieurs courts métrages, puis HOPNIK (1990), PETITS LAPINS (1991), TOUS LES MOYENS SONT BONS... (1991)(ces deux derniers présentés au Festival des films du monde) et MÄNNERPENSION (1995).Né en 1955, Mika Kaurismäki a réussi avec son frère Aki à ressusciter le cinéma finlandais. Il a réalisé entre autres AMAZON (1990), ZOMBIE AND THE GHOST TRAIN (1991), THE LAST BORDER (1993) et CONDITION RED (1995).Né à 1945, à Utrecht (Pays-Bas), Jos Stelling est un autodidacte qui s'est fabriqué au cours des ans et grâce à ses oeuvres un style cinématographique particulier. Il a commencé sa carrière avec MARIEKEN VAN NIEUMEGHEN (1974). Depuis il a réalisé: ELCKERLYK (1975), REMBRANDT FECIT 1669 (1977), DE PRETENDERS (1981), L'ILLUSIONISTE (1983), DE WISSELWACHTER (1986) et DER VLIEGENDE HOLLANDER (1995).
| Born in Bad Segeberg, Germany in 1962, Detlev Buck studied agriculture in university but instead of becoming a farmer he enrolled in the German Academy of Film and Television in Berlin. He graduated in 1990. He has several shorts to his credit as well as four other features: HOPNIK (1990), LITTLE RABBITS (1991), NO MORE MR. NICE GUY (1991) and MÄNNERPENSION (1995).Born in Orimatilla, Finland in 1955, Mika Kaurismäki studied at the Munich Academy of Film and Television before teaming up with his brother Aki to make a series of offbeat films and earn an international cult reputation. Among his more recent films are: AMAZON (1990), ZOMBIE AND THE GHOST TRAIN (1991), THE LAST BORDER (1993) and CONDITION RED (1995).Born in Utrecht, Netherlands in 1945, Jos Stelling is a self-educated filmmaker with his own, peculiar cinematic style. He made his directorial debut in 1974 with MARIEKEN VAN NIEUMEGHEN. Since then he has built a small but remarkable body of work.
