In the town of Montreal, New France in 1750, a young maidservant is convicted of theft and condemned to die. She finds herself in a cell next to a young soldier and the two prisoners craft an unlikely union to outwit the authorities. Based on the true story of Françoise Laurent and Jean Corolère.
- Naomi McCormack s'est fait connaître dans le monde du cinéma indépendant canadien grâce aux courts métrages auxquels elle a travaillé à titre de scénariste, de productrice ou de réalisatrice. Elle a été assistante à la réalisation pour THIRTY-TWO SHORT FILMS ABOUT GLENN GOULD (François Girard, 1992), "Roses Are Blue" (1993), "Away" (1994) et "My Feminism" (1995).
After studying film at York University and Sheridan College, Naomi McCormack began her multi-faceted career as writer, assistant director, choreographer and production designer on a wide variety of films and nulti-media productions. She previously directed "The Nuns", "Massacre" and "Green Ray Revisited" (all in 1988) and "How to Be a Girl" in 1993.
