An abstract film using computer and experimental techniques to choreograph quilt designs and motifs to music. The film uses colored and printed fabrics to illustrate the creation of complex, traditional designs and is an audio-visual tribute to the art form of patchwork quilting. |
| - Gayle Thomas a fait l'École des Beaux-Arts à Montréal. Fasciné par l'oeuvre de Norman McLaren, elle décide de se lancer dans le cinéma. À l'Office national du film du Canada, après avoir été assistante sur "Évolution" (Michael Mills, 1971), elle réalise ses propres films d'animation: "Neige" (1974), "La Flûte magique" (1977), "Un conte soufi" (1980), "Le Petit Garçon et l'Oie des neiges" (1984) et "The Phoenix" (1990).
| Gayle Thomas studied at Montreal's École des Beaux-Arts and Concordia University before choosing a career in the cinema. She joined the animation studio of the National Film Board in 1970 and has worked as an assistant animator, background artist and project co-ordinator in addition to animating and directing her own films. These include: "It's Snow" (1974), "Klaxon" (1975), "The Magic Flute" (1977), "A Sufi Tale" (1980), "The Boy and the Snow Goose" (1984) and "The Phoenix" (1990).
