Dans la chaleur d'un bel été ensoleillé, trois jeunes femmes qui se connaissent à peine viennent passer quelques semaines de vacances à la campagne. Jeanne veut profiter une dernière fois de sa maison de famille qui doit bientôt être vendue. Elle vient dire adieu aux fantômes de sa jeunesse. Avec sa petite gueule qui plaît aux garçons, la gracieuse Colombe est censée réviser un examen de philo qui ne la passionne guère. Quant à Marielle, après des années d'un mariage sans histoire, elle a besoin de prendre un peu de recul pour décider si oui ou non elle va garder un bébé dont son mari ne veut pas entendre parler. Seulement voilà, il y a Pascal, le garagiste du village voisin, l'ami d'enfance de Jeanne, qui vient troubler leurs vacances de filles. | THE FAIRY WALL
One beautiful warm summer in the country, three young women who scarcely know each other are spending a few weeks of vacation together. Jeanne wants to make use of her family house one last time before it gets sold. She wants also to bid adieu to the ghosts of her youth. Comely, gracious Colombe is supposed to be studying for a philosophy exam which doesn't interest her in the least. After years of an uneventful marriage, Marielle needs to take some time off to consider whether she will go through with having a baby that her husband doesn't want to hear about. Enter Pascal, garagekeeper in a neighboring village and a childhood friend of Jeanne's, to disturb the girls' vacation. |
| Michel Leviant est né aux États-Unis, a fait Polytechnique,
puis dès 1968, réalise LE FROID, un long métrage
d'animation. En 1970-1972, il suit des cours à l'Université
de la Californie à Los Angeles, réalise cinq courts
métrages. Il sera assistant de Du'an Makavejev, d'André
Cayatte et de Claude Goretta. Il écrit alors pour la télévision
et le cinéma. Il réalise pour la télévision
LES NAUFRAGÉS DU HAVRE (1979) et JEU D'ENFANT (1991), et
pour le cinéma LA GUEULE DU LOUP (1981). On lui doit le
scénario de LA FILLE DE D'ARTAGNAN (Bertrand Tavernier)
et celui du SILENCE DES FUSILS d'Arthur Lamothe, présenté
en compétition cette année au Festival des films
du monde.
| Born in the United States, Michl Leviant studied engineering
and made his directorial debut in 1968 with an animated feature,
LE FROID. He spent three years studying film at UCLA, directed
five shorts and worked as assistant to Du'an Makavejev, André
Cayatte and Claude Goretta. Since 1979 he has written numerous
scripts for film and television including Bertrand Tavernier's
LA FILLE DE D'ARTAGNAN and Arthur Lamothe's SILENCING THE GUNS
(in this year's Official Competition). He has directed three previous
features: LES NAUFRAGÉS DU HAVRE (1979) LA GUEULE DU LOUP
(1981) and JEU D'ENFANT (1991).
