OUR HOMELAND (KAZOKU NO KUNI)
One hot summer day, Rie, a 31-year-old second-generation Korean born and raised in Japan was looking forward for her older brother Sungho's return. Sungho was relocated to North Korea in the 1970s under the "repatriation program." After 25 years, he is finally allowed to return to Japan for 3 months for medical treatments. The night Rie realizes how difficult Sungho's life must have been in North Korea, and Sungho recognizes the dramatic changes in the town that he grew up in. He meets with old friends and his first love. Can family and friends make up the missing years in so short a time?
