PHILÉMON CHANTE HABANA is a cinematographic odyssey tracing a young Quebec singer’s musical voyage across Havana. It begins with a memory and ends with a song: an ode to the human spirit, to friendship, to the wanderer. It’s the story of an impromptu journey by a brilliant young musician leading to a series of strange and improbable encounters… artistic and otherwise. It’s the story of what happens along the way.
Pedro Ruiz
A graduate of the University of Caracas, Venezuela, Pedro Ruiz is an independent photo-journalist who has been making films since 1995. Selected filmography: Zoo (1995), Midas (1996), Animal Tropical à Montréal (2007), Mexique illégal (2008), Quand Alberto demande pardon au Canada (2008) and LA DÉRIVE DOUCE D'UN ENFANT DE PETIT-GOÂVE (2009).
