REHÉN DE ILUSIONES (HOSTAGE OF AN ILLUSION)

Pablo, a writer, is a 60 years old. One day, by chance, he runs into Paula, a former student of his. Now an attractive 35-year-old woman, Laura was very much in love with him when he was her professor at college, and she has retained the embers of that schoolgirl crush. Now she re-enters his life as a mature lover. Through Laura he rediscovers his physical desire and the illusion of being young once again. Caught up in youthful passion, Pablo is oblivious to Laura's growing paranoia with Argentina's military. After she is committed to an institution, Laura appears and disappears, becoming someone ethereal, like a faded picture from the past. Pablo must decide whether his devotion is truly enough to cure Laura, once and for all. "The film's eroticism is graceful, richly imagined, and thoroughly implausible, which is to say it merits the term 'Subielian'."-- Ben Sachs (Chicago Reader)
