PAISAJES DEVORADOS (VANISHING LANDSCAPES)

A fictional documentary, the film follows three young student filmmakers as they make a movie about an alleged film director living obscurely in a Buenos Aires mental hospital. The man, a mysterious and unusual character now in his 70s, may in fact be the very same director (with a different name) who disappeared after the unsolved murder of a young actress in the 1960s. During their visits to the hospital, the three students will forge a very special relationship with the self-styled former film director as they follow different clues to his "true" identity.

Eliseo Subiela

Born in Buenos Aires in 1944, Eliseo Subiela has been a regular visitor to the Festival over the years, including as a member of the jury in 1993. Several of his features won prizes at the MWFF, including the top prize for THE DARK SIDE OF THE HEART in 1992. Among his other films: MAN FACING SOUTHEAST (1986), LAST IMAGES OF THE SHIPWRECK (1989), WAKE UP LOVE (1996) and DON'T LOOK DOWN (2008).
