The latest battleground in the clash of civilizations is on the flat lands of Mongolia. In this vast emptiness, a foreign army of spiritual benefactors has been established. They fight for the attention and souls of three million Mongolians. THE LAST FRONTIER is about foreign missionaries and their best intentions in the 21st century, how spiritual and cultural identity falls under the control of the neo-imperialist reflexes of Christian assistance.
Floris-Jan Van Luyn
Born in 1967, journalist and director Floris-Jan van Luyn has worked extensively in Dutch media, mainly as Asian editor, since the mid-1990s, and he published two books on China. He has worked as an independent filmmaker since 2004. Selected filmography: Cyber Coolies (2006), Koenig Aap (2009), RAINMAKERS (2010) and The Chinese Bubble (2011).
