I first visited the Montreal World Film Festival with my feature film KLEINE HAIE in 1992. The strongest and probably the most emotional memory I have is the feeling I had when I won the festival's First Film Prize. Not just for winning this great award, which to this date has prominent position on my desk, but also for the fact that I won ahead of Quentin Tarantino, who was also nominated for his great RESERVOIR DOGS. This still makes me very proud.

Ma premi�re visite au Festival des films du monde de Montr�al �tait en 1992, avec mon long m�trage KLEINE HAIE (LES PETITS REQUINS). Le plus fort et probablement le plus �motionnel est le souvenir de mes sentiments quand j'ai gagn� le Prix du meilleur premier long m�trage de fiction. Non seulement pour le fait que j'ai gagn� ce grand prix, lequel jusqu'� pr�sent occupe une place sp�ciale sur mon bureau, mais aussi parce que j'ai remport� ce prix devant Quentin Tarantino qui �tait �galement en nomination avec son grand film RESERVOIR DOGS. Cela me rend toujours tr�s fi�re.
