Back
THE SEVENTH SUN OF LOVE
Greece 1922, a watershed year in which Greece's territorial aspirations in Turkey received a bloody, final setback. This is often regarded as the most significant event in the history of modern Greece and it has either a direct or an indirect effect on all the characters of the story. A young maidservant from the country becomes the object of desire of a major in the Greek army, his young and inexperienced groom and, finally, the major's young wife. A silent drama is played out in the household, a drama which the manners and mores of the era and its stern codes of conduct prevent from manifesting itself. When the major is forced to leave for the front in Asia Minor, the canny country girl turns the tables on her employers.
