THE MONTREAL WORLD FILM FESTIVAL OFFERS YOUR THE WORLD

Born from the efforts of a passionate group of persons keen on cinema, the World Film Festival has the will to serve all cinematography and stir all social circles, but most of all the Festival strives to encourage cultural diversity and introduce high quality and innovative authorship cinema.

The Festival represents the 7^th art at its best: a unique meeting platform in North America where cinema professionals and a multitude of new talent converge from all over the world in a city considered as one of the most important film and television-shooting center in North America.

Each new edition of the Montreal World Film Festival is eagerly expected by the enthusiastic public. In 2005, movie lovers applauded 350 films presented in cinema halls or under-the-stars screenings, of which 209 were world premieres or international premieres. As much as 77 countries were represented, an exceptional vintage with so many masterpieces to choose from.

All films at the Festival are presented inside renowned cinema halls such as the Maisonneuve Theatre of Place des Arts, the famous Imperial Cinema, plus 9 theatres at the cinema Quartier Latin. the Cinemath�que qu�b�coise and the NFB theatre.

Each year, the Festival takes possession of downtown Montreal. Part of Ste-Catherine street between Jeanne-Mance and St-Urbain is closed to traffic to accommodate the Festival's outdoor site and permit a secured access for all festival goers. Festival lovers can benefit from the activities taking place such as "Notre Cin�ma � Radio-Canada", a most interesting and appreciated family entertainment and the popular outdoor screenings "Cinema under the Stars".
