HEAVEN
In Turin, Italy, an young English teacher named Philippa plants an explosive device in the waste paper basket of an executive in a high-rise office building. She then phones the Italian police to tell them of the bomb and gives them her name. Tragically, the trash is dumped just before detonation, and instead of eliminating its intended victim, the bomb explodes in an elevator, killing a cleaning woman, a father and his two young children. When the carabinieri come to arrest her, Philippa makes no effort to resist, but when she is told of the results of her actions during her initial interrogation, she is devastated. Philippa had wanted revenge on the drug dealers whose wares have already killed her husband and forced one of her young students to commit suicide. The executive of the electronics company that she targeted was a kingpin in the drug trade. But the police don't believe her; they are trained to suspect a political motive in bombing cases and Philippa isn't very convincing. Only Filippo, the young policeman who acts as her translator, buys her story. He is moved by her plight and decides to take it on himself to gain her freedom. He is convinced that they were meant for each other. He smuggles a tiny dictating machine into her cell and begins secretly communicating with her. But her cell is bugged and Pini, the officer in charge of the case, soon gets wind of their plot. What Pini doesn't know is that the whole scheme is merely a ruse and Filippo has something else entirely in mind...
