EDEN
Youzeck, the main hero of EDEN, has been wandering through Andrzej Czeczot's world for over a quarter century. He walks, flies, sails, ride along, tooting on his reed pipes, moving through the entire range of European culture -- Euroamerican, to be exact. Youzeck's journey consists of a series of episodes with ever-changing characters, whereas he remains largely a spectator. In principle, he stays out of the action, unless it involves sex. As a folk hero, Youzeck must prove he has balls, according to his author. During his travels, Youzeck encounters Prometheus, Hercules, Janosik (a Polish folk hero from the mountains), Salvador Dali, Chopin locked in a musical duel with Paganini, Charlie Parker, Elvis Presley, the Beatles in their Yellow Submarine, Noah and his family, Napoleon, Neptune, the Wright Brothers, Columbus, Isadora Duncan, the Titanic's band, Robinson Crusoe and his man Friday, George Washington, countless weird animals and monsters, angels, devils, witches, even God himself."Animated film in my opinion is a moveable painting, kind of a fairy tale. It shouldn't imitate regular movies with actors. Drawn characters are quite different; they should not portray human behaviour... EDEN is an ironic fable for mature audiences. It is about the human condition, history and culture. I hope it's even funny..." -- Andrzej Czeczot
