TWO SUMMERS
Eight-year-old Lewis Poppy is using his imagination to stave off boredom and loneliness as he explores his grandfather Herbert's empty apartment while Herbert is at work and his father Michael is away on a business trip. Activities such as building a fort out of cleaning supplies and making faces into a mirror while wearing dentures have become second nature to Lewis, who is often neglected by the very people who should be taking care of him. However, when Lewis' curiosity leads him to discover a mannequin that greatly resembles his deceased mother in Herbert's mannequin manufacturing plant, Lewis' long and difficult journey towards finding true companionship really begins. On this journey Lewis will need to learn how to ballroom dance (through a misunderstanding with Herbert, he believes that he can bring his mother back to life by dancing with the mannequin), and he will need to defy both his grandfather and his father, who have already selected architect as the profession for him. And he will need to resist his older brother Alex, who is undergoing a serious personality crisis and likes to use Lewis as his personal intellectual, emotional and physical punching bag. Lewis will need all these along with patience, determination, hope and, especially, love.
