ANANSI
From Ghana to a deserted seacoast, from Morocco to Spain, out of desperate need, a group of West Africans attempt the perilous journey to Germany. But their path to the promised land of satellite dishes and a comfortable living is strewn with obstacles. In West Africa, "anansi" means spider, a well-loved trickster. This ancient character of myth represents the survival strategies of people who struggle to secure a future for themselves in the face of appalling social, political and economic conditions. The main character, Zaza, is played by George Quaye, the much adored womanizer in Ghana's most popular soap opera, Taxi. Reggae star Shaggy supported the project and contributed the theme song, Why Me Lord?
