TAKE CARE OF MY CAT
Inchon is a city where residents dream of living in Seoul, the city to which a connective railway was built. Inchon, with Korea's first Chinatown, is also the port where foreigners land when they head to Seoul. Inchon is also the home of a group of twenty-year-old women who dream of the outside world, like cats at a window. After graduating from commercial high school, the girls all enter society with big ambitions -- one has a job at a financial securities company and hopes to become an executive, another works as a typist for a paralyzed poet she's taken a fancy to, and another, with drawing talent, aspires to attend art school aboard. To them, home is not a haven, it's a stifling place, a place to escape. Hae-joo, the flirtatious would-be broker, is the first to get out -- to an apartment in Seoul -- after several ups and downs with her boyfriend Chan-yong. The others feel rejected. Ji-young, the artistically talented girl, is particularly affected. Introverted, living with her grandparents in a shanty town, she has difficulty integrating into the world of work. Once close to Hae-joo, she is now befriended by Tae-hee, a rebellious middle-class dropout who also can't find a job and spends her time trying to hold the group together. She is a dreamer who would like nothing better than to drift in a boat and watch the stars in the sky. One day she packs a bag to find her own way in the world and she asks Ji-young to come along.
