SOUTHEAST
Boga, a young man born in the islands of the Paran� River delta, witnesses the death of his father. The event was expected and Boga accepts it as he accepts the cycle of life. His father's death signals his true freedom. A fisherman by trade, familiar with the currents of the river, Boga sets out on a journey with no particular objective in mind. On the way he meets other social misfits and resents their intrusion into space he considers his own. The river is not only its currents and islands, it is also the banks and the waste that is discharged into the river from the people living along its shores. Among the characters Boga runs into are Cabecita, partially retarded, half-saint, and Pampa, a river rat with a long criminal history. Violence erupts. The river flows on.
Sergio Bellotti
Sergio Bellotti produced numerous commercials in Argentina between 1981 and 1993, then switched to features. Among the films he produced are 1000 BOOMERANGS (1994) and LIFE ACCORDING TO MURIEL (1997). His directorial debut, MY TREASURE (1999), was shown at the Montreal World Film Festival.
