LOVERS AND LEAVERS
Thirty-year-old Iiris Vaara lives in the world of movies and is waiting to experience the sort of great love story that she sees on the screen. Only a kindred spirit will do for such a great love. So it is no surprise that when Iiris finally falls in love, it is with a young film director who wears a wolfish smile and who knows all the answers to Iiris' lines. But what happens when the stock of thirty-six intellectual thoughts are exhausted and the illusion of one's beloved's immense intelligence begins to fade? A dramatic relationship rodeo ensues, with the couple's entire circle of friends involved -- as spectators and as participants. Poor Iiris... after a series of dramatic scenes she finally progresses towards independence.
Aku Louhimies
Finnish director Aku Louhimies graduated from the University of Helsinki before enrolling in film and television at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. He has also studied at the Finnish Theatre Academy. Along with documentaries, he has directed several comedy and drama series for television: Kotikatu (1995), Syd�nten akatemia (1998), Is�nmaan toivot (1998), Ensi tiistaina Brahms (1998) and Jatkoika, an episode of El�m� on n�aytelm� (1999). In 2000 he made his feature debut with RESTLESS.
