THE INTERVIEW
In a darkened and locked room sits Eddie Fleming, an unremarkable human being. The sort of person you'd pass in the street without a second glance. At 5 a.m. this morning he was at home, asleep. Opposite Eddie sits John Steele. He's asking the questions. Tough and experienced, he knows the drill. He interrupts the interview, leaving Eddie to sweat a little and consider his options. Eddie's scared and confused. He's had his door broken down, and he's been dragged through town and unceremoniously dumped in this room. And for what? He's a nobody. Of no interest to people like these. But Steele's back again and the questions seem to take a more sinister direction. Desperately, Eddie searches for answers. Any answers. Just to get Steele off his back. What little bit of truth Eddie knows, he must play with. Not in a malicious way, only to buy some time until he can work out what's going on. But Steele has no time. He has other pressures. There are forces here that neither he nor Eddie have reckoned with. Other players, with other agendas. Steele must force the issue. Now Eddie has the edge he was looking for. Steele is listening to his every word. The balance of power has shifted. Steele needs Eddie and Eddie knows it.
