JUAN, I FORGOT, I DON'T REMEMBER
In 1994 short documentary, Grandfather Cheno and Other Stories, director Juan Carlos Rulfo interviewed old inhabitants of southern Jalisco state. In JUAN, I FORGOT, I DON'T REMEMBER he revisits Jalisco to see what the grizzled oldtimers remember of his father, the well-known Mexican novelist Juan Rulfo. He discovers that they remember very little. Yes, they tell him, they recall some character by the name of Juan, but they can't remember anything about him. Those who do remember Juan are also interviewed and these include the director's mother and several writers from his father's generation -- Juan Jos Arreola, Manuel Coso and the late Jaime Sabines.
