Montr�al, August 6th, 2002. This section encompasses the greatest variety of films on the greatest variety of subjects. A panorama of current cinema, this section is a festival in itself. It includes films of truly diverse origins, fiction as well as documentaries, covering the spectrum of international culture and society.


Bangladesh

LALSALU (A TREE WITHOUT ROOTS) 2001 / 35 mm / Colour / 110 min / Dir. Tanvir Mokammel
A mysterious mullah arrives in a small farming village, cleans up a dilapidated grave and erects a shrine on the site to an unknown �holy man�. The money rolls in but there is a price to pay.
