RESTORATION AND RENOVATION OF THE IMPERIAL CINEMA - PHASE 2

RESTORATION AND RENOVATION OF THE IMPERIAL CINEMA - PHASE 2

This goal could be attained through two distinct actions : to restore the building in order to save its heritage features, and to make sure the building would remain operational in the long run.

In the case of the Imperial, these two actions are not incompatible. To prove it, we have devised a project aimed at restoring the building while making it fully functional for years to come. This project became even more important as the building was recognized as a historical monument by the Ministre de la Culture et des Communications du Qubec in 2001.

After completing phase 1 in 2000, which included the replacement of carpets and all the seats, as well as emergency work this summer (2002) that included redoing the roof and replacing the hall's air conditioning system, we hereby launch phase 2 of the project. It will namely include a professional restoration of heritage features, as well as an upgrading of equipment so that the venue can operate in the long run.

Projected work is divided into four (4) categories : highlighting the heritage features; updating security systems; technical upgrades and the conversion of spaces.

Highlighting the heritage features includes the restoration of the faade, which includes the replacement of the marquee by one that resembles the original, restoration of retail displays on each side of the entrance, repair and cleanup of
