CINEMA HAS STARRED FOR THE PAST 50 YEARS
Montreal, Tuesday, August 6, 2002 CBC French Television is pleased to be associated, for its 50th anniversary, with the 26th Montreal World Film Festival, being held from August 22 to September 2, 2002.
Throughout the Festival, Radio-Canada is inviting the public to discover the magic of the exhibition Un homme et son pch Sraphin d'hier aujourd'hui, being presented at the Complexe Desjardins. With costumes, sets, photographs and video excerpts, visitors will become reacquainted with the television characters and get to know some of those soon coming to life on the big screen. Indeed, for Radio-Canada, television-cinema interaction is a powerful stimulus in all areas of film creation. Radio-Canada is a partner in the film Sraphin, un homme et son pch, produced by Cit-Amrique and distributed by Alliance Atlantis Vivafilm. Sraphin, un homme et son pch, produced by Charles Binam and starring Pierre Lebeau, Karine Vanasse and Roy Dupuis, will open in theatres on November 29.
Radio-Canada will also be celebrating Television's 50th anniversary with the public and film fans during the WFF with a booth specially designed for the occasion on Sainte-Catherine St. and offering excitement, discoveries and souvenirs for festival-goers.
In addition, the 2nd Comptition en ligne de courts mtrages is being presented on SilenceOnCourt.tv (the Radio-Canada film platform on the web) in collaboration with the Film Market and the International Forum of New Technologies. Radio-Canada's web-tv convergence initiative, www.SilenceOnCourt.tv is a unique site for airing short films from the world francophone community.
We are proud to be a partner in the development, production, promotion and distribution of domestic films. The long and the short of it is that Radio-Canada has been involved in the art of cinema for 50 years.
Enjoy the Festival!
