SPONSORS OFFICIAL STATEMENT For immediate distribution - Wednesday, August 7th, 2002 SODEC HELPS FUND 26TH ANNUAL WORLD FILM FESTIVAL SODEC HELPS FUND 26TH ANNUAL WORLD FILM FESTIVAL Montr�al, August 6, 2002 � The Soci�t� de d�veloppement des entreprises culturelles du Qu�bec (SODEC) is pleased to award a $425,000 grant to this year's edition of the World Film Festival, which runs from August 22 to September 2. With a program whose diversity makes it unique in North America, the Festival remains a popular event, screening films written and directed by filmmakers from a wide variety of countries around the globe. This year's selection includes a dose of Qu�bec content in various genres ranging from shorts to features, and including documentaries that have gained both national and international prominence. In this regard, SODEC is proud to have helped finance La Turbulence des fluides, Manon Briand's second film which will launch the Festival as well as the fall film season. SODEC invites all movie fans to revel in this cinematographic feast where they can savour the latest creations of local and foreign artists. SODEC helps finance the local film industry at every stage � from scriptwriting through production to promotion and distribution � through various programs that represent a substantial portion of its activities.
