Synopsis

Marie, 19, is caught between the complicated adolescence from which she has just graduated and the adulthood that she hasn't yet reached. Drawn to the glitter of nightclubs, she trusts an ill-intentioned former friend and is hired as a hostess. Before long, lured by the glamour as much as the easy money, she has slipped into prostitution. But she doesn't dare admit it to her boyfriend Vincent, a carefree 21-year-old skateboarder who owes everyone money and has more trouble adjusting to adulthood than Marie. The two young people are caught in the turmoil of life, crushed by a culture of money, physical appearances and perpetual fantasies. Mika, the autistic and mute brother in Vincent's care, witnesses their secrets and lies and eventually he too gets caught up in their problems.

 

Director

Born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1975, Germinal Roaux worked as as a photojournalist for various magazines before making his directorial debut in 2004 with a short documentary, Des tas de choses. He followed that in 2007 with Icebergs, winner of "best Swiss newcomer" at the Locarno Festival. That year he also inaugurated his online photo gallery, "Never Young Again". LEFT FOOT RIGHT FOOT is his first feature.
