I've been invited to the Montreal Film Festival with many of my films since the early ages. What always impressed me most was the great interest and dedication of your public. The people that attend your festival simply love film and are willing to explore and give to the screen rather than expecting to be entertained or patronised. Film as a means of self expression, as the art form of our time, is very much under threat and the Montreal World Film Festival is and always has been one of the last vestiges of pure cinema. Congratulations Mr. Serge Losique for fighting the good fight for so many years and keeping the show on the road.
