I remember when I was growing up it was the local movie theatre that held all the magic and mystery of discovering cinema.

Communication has made it easy for everyone to understand how films are made and a lot of the magic is gone. But one place that invention and magic still exists is the film festival. In my experience, on the jury at Montreal, I discovered films that I could not see in the local movie theatres.

I also had the opportunity to meet and talk to professionals from all over the world. They've become my friends and colleagues. The experience was extremely rewarding.
