Synopsis
Sensing that the Hoxha regime of 1980s Albania is conducting a purge, the head of the secret service begins secretly taping its crimes. Will it save him?
Director
Born in Tirana, Albania in 1960, Namik Ajazi studied philology at the local university. Arrested by the Communist regime, he was a political prisoner until 1990. After the fall of Hoxha he left for Italy where he completed his studies in journalism and TV production, then taught at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinema in Rome. Back in Albania he begane directing films, among them Running Away (1996), Chronic of Escaping War (1997), Prostitution, Slavery of 2000 (2000), Petro Marko, A Stone in this Place (2002), The Great Alexander of Albanians (2003), The Other Wedding (2005), Where Poets Were Killed (2008) and Light in the Abyss (2009). AMANET is his first feature.
