Synopsis
Gérard Depardieu. Larger than life. Here he is, at home. Cigarettes always within reach. Serene and playful, Depardieu talks about himself, without varnish. Of course, there are the movies, from LES VALSEUSES (Going Places, 1974) to CYRANO (1990). But in his memory the things that resonate are encounters, faces, sometimes vanished ones and words, always words. A "lifeaholic", a bon vivant with sevenleague boots on, traces his journey from Châteauroux with Dédé and Lilette, his parents, to Calcutta with Satyajit Ray, while paying tribute to Patrick Dewaere.
Director
A photographer fascinated by Gérard Depardieu, Richard Melloul became his friend and confidant. After spending their younger years together in Châteauroux, Melloul followed Depardieu for three decades on various film sets as well as on his personal journeys. Here he documents the results of that relationship.
