The only country in the world attacked with atomic bombs is again facing the fear of radiation after experiencing the first nuclear accident of the 21st century. Thousands of people were forced to evacuate after the explosions in the Japanese nuclear power plant at Fukushima, triggered by one of the most powerful earthquakes ever and 40-metre tsunami waves, and they don’t know yet when they will be able to return home. The energy that made Japan’s dream come true has become the country’s worst nightmare.

Born in Portugal in 1983, Patrícia Neves studied communications in Lisbon. She began working as a journalist in 2004 and lives in Macau, China, since 2008. She covered the tsunami aftermath in Japan and in 2012 she went back to the country to film NUCLEAR EMPIRE, her first documentary. She also published a book in 2014 with the same title.
