Synopsis
In the run-down rehearsal rooms along the halls of the Grand Theatre of Havana, Amanda and Viengsay dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the demanding routine their discipline requires of them: that of classical ballet. Their every step and aspiration echo the great achievements of their predecessor, Alicia Alonso, the prima ballerina assoluta, still invincible even at the grand age of 90. Even now, she continues to encourage the dreams of young dancers who seek to follow in her footsteps.
Director
Born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1976, Eileen Hofer worked as a publicist and journalist before embarking on a career as a self-taught filmmaker. She made her first short, Roots, in 2008, winning a dozen prizes at international festivals. She made her first feature-length film, HE WAS A GIANT WITH BROWN EYES, in 2012.
