Synopsis
A “genius” of the theatre, radio and cinema by age 24, his first film, CITIZEN KANE, praised by the critics and still ranked as one of the all-time greats, why did Orson Welles not finish any other film after he reached the height of his fame in 1942? Did he love his freedom too much to dedicate himself to the seventh art? One Welles quote is a clue to the answer: “I began at the top and have been making my way down ever since.” Trying to capture the man behind the myth, this documentary reminds us of the innovation and audacity with which Welles reinvented the language of film.
Director
French author, director Elisabeth Kapnist began her career in 1982 with Diadia Pavlik, mon oncle de Russie, a film tracing the story of her family during the Russian Revolution.
