Synopsis
In 1993, a Hollywood production would forever change the life of the people of Easter Island. The blockbuster film RAPA-NUI attracted millions of dollars to the tiny island and offered a job to every resident, but strongly affected their traditions and the image many of them held of their own ancestors and themselves. This is the tale of the Yorgos, the true heirs of the Rapa-Nui culture, in their constant search for their own identity. A story about film colonization.
Directors
Paco Toledo studied cinema in Chile and Cuba and started his career as a photojournalist in Chile. His documentary, CAN TUNIS (2007) was widely shown in international festivals. José Domingo Rivera worked as a lawyer on Easter Island, studied filmmaking in New York and Barcelona. Among his directing credits: En la mirada de un hombre común (2007), EN ENERO QUIZÀS (2008), Oratorio (2009).
