Synopsis
In 1936, 2800 Americans volunteered to defend the Republic of Spain, joining about 50,000 other volunteers coming from 54 countries across the world. But what most do not know is that among the American volunteers there were eighty-five African-Americans who also answered that call, fighting in Spain against racism and for the civil rights that were denied to them in their own country. This is their story, an unknown page of American and Spanish history.

A graduate in political science and journalism, Alfonso Domingo is a foreign affairs journalist and a documentarist with some 100 films to his credit. A graduate in philosophy, film aesthetics and anthropology, Jordi Torrent founded Duende Pictures in New York in 1989 and has produced features, documentaries and television series.
