Synopsis

The year is 1938 and in China, war is raging with Japan. China’s supply lines have been cut; and a new supply road from Burma to Kunming is China’s only hope of survival. Wang, an engineering student from Beijing, is sent by the Central Government to the rustic world of southwest China to obtain the cooperation of villagers in the building of this lifeline.

 

Director

Born in 1968, Chinese director and cinematographer Wang Yi moved into cinematography after a successful career in painting and photography. After 20 years in the industry he made his directorial debut in 2013 with THE FALLING FEATHER. His interest in the Yunnan region of China led him to make his second sortie about the construction of the Burma Road.
