Synopsis
Yang Tianjiang, a young man with aspirations to enter university and lead a modern way of life, finds himself on a path to a different future while living on China’s Red Mountain. His father has already mapped it out for Yang: he will become a mountain ranger. With the well-being of the mountain and its inhabitants resting on his shoulders, Yang discovers what duty entails, what it means to become a man, and how to deal with personal strife, the pains of lost love, with fatherhood and tradition.
Director
Born in Chang Sha, Hunan Province, in 1976, Xin Mei graduated from the Beijing Film Academy before studying at the University of Leeds and then the Vancouver Film School.
