Synopsis
Three stories centred on death and funerals in the cold, rural parts of central China. A young man flees with his pregnant girlfriend after having accidentally killed a man attempting to blackmail the young couple. A woman trapped in a violent marriage confesses to her lover that she plans to kill her husband, who later turns up dead in the forest. Finally, a man is involuntarily drawn into both his son’s escape and the murder of the husband.
Director
Young Chinese filmmaker Xin Yukun (30) graduated in cinematography from the Beijing Film Academy. His short film Seven Nights was shown widely at international film festivals. DEEP IN THE HEART was three years in development.
