Synopsis
Maurice, an attractive 18-year old French boy with a murky past, arrives in the new world, specifically New York, with no place to stay. But it doesn’t take him long to fit in. Kim and Betty, who run a hip underground club in Brooklyn, the Bizarre, give him a job along with room and board. The Bizarre becomes Maurice’s new family and he quickly adapts to its eccentric world of outcasts, beginning a disturbing relationship with the bartender, Luka, who also has a mysterious background. But the world of the Bizarre is an ephemeral refuge and it isn’t long before Maurice’s past catches up with him.
Director
Etienne Faure began his career directing several short films, in particular The Invisible Lyrics (1992) starring Guillaume Depardieu, and All The Boys (1992) starring Jean-Claude Brialy and Elodie Bouchez. He made his feature debut in 2000 with IN EXTREMIS, starring Sebastien Roch, Julie Depardieu, Aurélien Wiik, Jean Claude Brialy, and Christine Boisson. BIZARRE is his fourth feature.
