Synopsis
A reknowned filmmaker working on his next feature becomes obsessed with the idea of “monstrosity" as the central image around which the film will revolve. He begins visiting museums to find the perfect painting that would illustrate this effect. To that end, he hires an art historian and finds himself drawn into the masterpieces of Francis Bacon, Léon Spilliaert, Caravaggio, Théodore Chasseriau, Hans Bellmer and many others. As the "monster" begins to take shape into his mind, a "monstrous" red stain starts growing on his back…
Director
French filmmaker Antoine Barraud directed Monster, his first short film, in 2004. Deluge followed in 2005 and Monster #2 in 2007. He made several experimental portraits of artists and other filmmakers (Kenneth Anger, Koji Wakamatsu, Kohei Oguri, Weegee, etc). He made his directorial debut in features with LES GOUFFRES in 2012.
