Synopsis
Fabio is a teenage boy from San Basilio, one of the toughest Roman suburbs. Fabio has an artistic flair and a sensitive nature, but in SanBa there is no space for art or creativity and the only way to escape is through drugs. Until he meets Teresa. Just arrived from Sardinia, she's a social worker who supervises the creation of murals on building walls. For Fabio, Teresa will became a point of reference, the first bearer of a real change in his empty life. Perhaps a new life. And even love. And if Fabio can change, can SanBa too?
Director
Italian filmmaker Valentina Belli was born in Rome in 1981 and graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia before apprenticing an assistant cameraman, assistant director and cinematographer on several short films. She served as director of photography on La prova dell’uovo (2010) and L’Estate che non viene (2011). SANBA is her directorial debut.
