Synopsis
Sibel, a young Flemish woman of Turkish heritage, is set to marry Jurgen, a young man of good Flemish stock. Their wedding must be the most beautiful day of their lives. But maybe Sibel shouldn’t have lied to her mother about Jurgen. And maybe Jurgen shouldn’t have told his ex-girlfriend that it was okay for her to attend. And Sibel’s younger brother Eray shouldn’t have filmed their messy bachelor’s night. And Jurgen’s dad Harry shouldn’t have brought Raki to his in-laws. And Sibel should have listened to her brother Kemal’s misgivings about the whole affair. Maybe the fight could then have been avoided...
Director
Kadir Balci grew up in Belgium to Turkish parents. After direction short fiction, a mini-series for television (180º, 2008), corporate films and several documentaries, one of them dealing with Turkish import brides, he made his feature debut in 2010 with TURQUAZE, a film about immigrants who find themselves torn between two lands and cultures. MARRY ME! is his second feature.
